Is there a cure for arthritis?

My father has arthritis and it causes much discomfort to him. The medicines help only less. Is there a permanent cure for it?

    At the moment, there is no cure for arthritis (except gout). However, there are many ways of treating the symptoms of arthritis. There is also much you can do to protect your joints and keep mobile with drugs, therapies and self-management techniques, such as by maintaining a healthy diet and taking regular exercise .

    When you're in pain, the last thing you may want to do is exercise, but it's actually one of the best things you can do for your joints. Aerobic, strength-training, and stretching exercises can all be helpful.
