View All Answers (1)A. Hi Nse..thanks for your query.Increasing calorie intake is foremost for weight gain, which can also be done by eating a large volume of food and opting for energy-dense foods. 3,500 additional calories are required for gaining one pound, which can be achieved within a week by adding 500 calories to daily diet.Healthy calorie-containing beverages are an integral aspect of weight gain regimen. Ideal to be consumed between meals, health drinks increase your caloric intake. If you have an issue with consumption of solid foods, calorie-rich drinks also fit in the criteria of an equally healthy substitute.

There is no specific medication for treatment of a dengue infection. Persons who think they have dengue should use analgesics (pain relievers) with acetaminophen and avoid those containing aspirin. They should also rest, drink plenty of fluids, and consult a physician. If they feel worse (e.g., develop vomiting and severe abdominal pain) in the first 24 hours after the fever declines, they should go immediately to the hospital for evaluation.

Temperatures measured rectally are the most accurate. For age under 3 months old (90 days old), an armpit temperature is the safest and may be preferred for screening.

If you're uncomfortable, take acetaminophen (Tylenol, others), ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin, others) or aspirin. Read the label carefully for proper dosage, and be careful not to take more than one medication containing acetaminophen, such as some cough and cold medicines.

View All Answers (3)A. I know of a friend who got fever when a lizard fell on her shoulder. I guess this is more like fever because of shock but then as far as i know shock releases the same hormones into the body that stress does. If my theory is right, there is a high possbility that excessive stress can cause fever.
