Can my wife conceive while on thyroid medication?

My wife is 31 years old and was recently diagnosed with hypothyroidism. We are trying to have a child. Can she conceive while on treatment for hypothyroidism?

    Yes, you two can plan a pregnancy and in majority of cases, all goes well with medication. Regular monitoring for thyroid function tests can check the risks of hypothyroidism, such as early abortion, foetal abnormality, small baby, and preterm labour.

    Hi, I too became pregnant while taking medicines for hypothyroidism. I must tell you that your wife's medications can be continues after delivery when the requirements may change. She will also need to control her thyroid because after delivery, problems can develop on return of menses and breast feeding.
